I Created A Chat GPT Image: These are The Hilarious Results

Chat GPT, Chat GPT Images and AI in general seem to be everywhere right now. No matter where you look, or listen, there it is. I have heard mostly people singing the praises of it’s capability, or scaremongering about its revolutionary nature and what this means for us mere mortals.

What is Chat GPT?

Chat GPT is a natural language processing tool powered by AI technology that enables you to have human-like conversations with a chatbot and much more. The language model can answer questions and help you with tasks like email, essay writing, and coding.

Is Chat GPT Reliable?

Well. In short, no. There are obvious concerns about the factual accuracy of Chat GPT. Mike Pearl of Mashable put Chat GPT to the test with a variety of questions, including the largest country in Central America that isn’t Mexico, despite the fact that Mexico isn’t a part of Central America. Chat GPT responded with Guatemala, when the correct answer is Nicaragua.

I myself had an experience like this when testing the AI to write a post on St Patrick’s day. I asked about the commonly associated Sheelagh’s Day. Chat CPT told me that this day was celebrated on September 30th, when anyone with even a rudimentary knowledge of Irish folklore knows that Sheelagh’s Day is celebrated the day after St Patrick’s day, on the 18th of March.

After these obvious blunders, I was intrigued to see that Chat GPT can also generate images. So, I embarked on a a task to see how closely I could get to generating an image I held in my minds eye. The results are hilarious.

My First Chat GPT Image

I asked Chat GPT to create me an image of 1950s women driving a car talking to a man in the backseat fleeing from something on a country road in Ireland. This is the result.

The Verdict on the Chat GPT Image Results

There were a few things that I immediately noticed about this image. They are the following points: Firstly, you cannot see their faces, which I found interesting. Then in terms of the image in my minds eye, they are driving the wrong way in the Chat GPT Image.

In addition, in the Chat GPT Image the colours are completely different to what I had envisioned which were in blues, rusts and maroon colours which an overall more muted palate.

The following point of interest in the Chat GPT Image is that you cannot see the man at all, which is curious considering it is a key part of the description. I suppose, finally, the women in the Chat GPT Image don’t look panicked like they are fleeing something. I must say, however, that on balance I actually quite like the creation.

Do Chat GPT Images Work?

Well, I suppose yes and no.

When I saw this image in my minds eye, it was completely different to this, but it has been a fun experiment. I don’t really know where the idea for it came from, except to say that I have been doing a lot of research on Ireland of late. This is for a book that I have been cooking up for a few years and am almost ready to start putting down on paper. Perhaps that explains it.

I wondered if I was able to get the image closer to the concept that I had envisioned, so I tweaked the parameters a little bit to see if I could generate something better.

My Second Attempt at the Chat GPT Image Generator

This Second Attempt at the Chat GPT Image was called 1940s woman driving a car a country road in Ireland talking to a man in the backseat as they from something behind them.

Hilariously, they are quite ridiculous looking and the images seem to have some weird face distortions which make them look quite peculiar. The woman’s hands look like an X-ray which is quite disturbing.

My Third Attempt at the Perfect Chat GPT Image

This third and final attempt at generating a representation of the image in my minds eye. On this occasion I asked the system to make me an image that was of a Beautiful woman dressed in vintage clothes in a car chase down a country road in Ireland looks behind her maroon and blue.

I have to say that this one is more usable than the second image. It still isn’t even close to what I had seen in my minds eye, however, it is at the very least, a recognisable and understandable image.

Summary of Creating a Chat GPT Image

All in all, the images I created on Chat GPT were a fail for their intended purpose. They in no way come even close to what I had envisioned in my minds eye, however, it was still a fun experience. One note I would make is that the technology is clearly in it’s infancy. At this stage, the images look like a basic cut and paste collage images that you might have created back in the day when you were armed with a few magazines, a pair of scissors and a glue stick.

Do I Think That the Human Race is Under Threat by Chat GPT?

Well no. Not yet anyway. It reminds me of how people must have thought about the future back in the 1950s when they created shows like the Jetsons. Projecting forward, we were supposed to be zooming around in flying cars by now and getting robots to cook and clean, at the very least. But, alas, that dull task still falls to us mortals.
